Kodak wireless W820 frame problematic on macs
»
I spent the entire morning trying to get this frame to make a direct wireless connection with my MacBook Pro, but the only way to connect seems to be via a webpage that only allows basic configuration of the frame. How can a major corporation produce a product like this and say it is Mac compatible and get away with it? Two hours with Kodak's online tech support yielded no solution either. My questions have been 'escalated', so we'll see if they get back to me. Really frustrating and annoying, and without a fix Kodak has lost a customer.

UNRELIABLE SOFTWARE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH
»
I AM 68 YEARS OLD BUT I KNOW HOW TO SET UP AND MAINTAIN MY LOCAL WIRELESS NETWORK WITH 3 COMPUTERS. THE KODAK SOFTWARE IS SLOW AND UNRELIABLE. IT LOCKS YOU OUT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. IF YOU HAVE 13,000 PHOTOS ON ONE HARD DISC ALONE IT WILL TAKE YOU FOREVER TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SHOW. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RANDOM WAY TO SHOW PHOTOS ON ANY OR ALL OF YOUR HARD DISCS LIKE A SCREEN SAVER WILL DO ON YOUR COMPUTER.
LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOS SIMPLY CONFUSES THE SOFTWARE. MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER ON YOUR NETWORK WILL CAUSE CONFUSION TO THE SOFTWARE. THE NETWORK WILL REQUIRE YOU TO CHOOSE ONE MACHINE TO READ.
IT MAY SIMPLY BE A LACK OF MEMORY ON THE KODAK FRAME THAT WASTES TIME. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF KODAK IS TO SELL YOU THINGS ON THEIR WEB SITE.
IF YOU WANT TO PAY THEM FOR SENDING YOUR DATA ELSEWHERE OR COPY PHOTOS SENT TO YOU BY OTHERS,YOU CAN WASTE ALOT OF TIME. LIFE IS SHORT . PUTTING A MEMORY STICK INTO THE FRAME TO COPY TO THE INTERNAL MEMORY IS SLOW AND TEDIOUS.HAVING A SMALL FAST COMPUTER NEAR THE FRAME TO CONNECT WITH A USB CORD IS MORE REALISTIC DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR LIBRARY. MAYBE THE NEXT ITERATION WILL MAKE THINGS EASIER. I HAVE ANOTHER FRAME THAT TRIES TO DO LESS AND DOES IT WELL.

Nice Christmas Gift
»
I bought this frame as a Christmas present for my sister. She is very happy with it. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is excellent. It is a nice size for display on her living room end table.

Good price, but low res
»
I was surprised to see this item marked down significantly from last year. I think it works well, and is very easy. There is no need to install the Kodak software on your computer, the camera will read standard JPG's right off a memory card.
The only drawback is that the max resolution is only 480x234, so the pictures aren't very sharp close up, but look great at a distance.
The touch-bar menu features on the camera are very useful and easy to use.

A Great Christmas present
»
I couldn't think of a present for my wife as she had a stroke about a year ago. She has much difficulty speaking in addition to other physical problems. Someone suggested a digital photo frame and it was a great hit. She looks at it several times per day. I picked the Kodak because of its brand name and also looking at other reviews. It is easy to use and the pictures are great.
