Product description

The Philips DVD Player features discrete dual laser pickup to provide the best possible picture and sound with both DVD and CD formatted discs. One is optimized for DVD playback while the other is dedicated to CD playback. Laser life is also maximized in this configuration. And the DVD950AT provides the ability to upgrade features via a special DVD upgrade disc. Backgrounds, search speeds and modes, audio processing, display parameters, interactivity, titles, CD text, languages, screen savers and video processing may be upgraded. Plus there's a parental control system that, when activated, permits play only of authorized discs unless a special PIN code is entered. The player will remember up to 80 disc authorizations, allowing unrestricted playback of these discs. A built-in Dolby digital decoder with six-channel analog output supplies the 5.1 channel outputs that can be connected directly to five amplifiers and a powered subwoofer or a Dolby Digital-ready receiver. A YUV three-jack output connection provides maximum signal quality and enhanced color accuracy. Its 10-bit video and 24-bit audio DAC provide the highest quality video and audio. Other features include DTS sound compatibility and virtual 3-D surround.

« Good player, bad manual and menus »
I have not had any issues since instaling this DVD player. The picture and sound are very good. The manual and on-screen setup menus are very weak. I am very technical and had to wing my way to getting this thing to work. If you want to play MPEGS on this player you need to check the compatability.

    « Great DVD »
After researching several DVD players we settled on Philips due to the fact that we have a Philips TV. So far its been great. No problem with movies or music cds, easy to hook up, set-up and install. Intutive instructions and display, good remote. If you are willing to spend the money you'll have a good piece of equipment that will last.

    « Sweet DVD Player »
This here is the best dvd player on amazon. It's not too expensive and it's got everything that you'll need. Nice remote and it won't screw up your tv like other ones do. This is an average price for an awesome system. If I were you I would buy it! Right away!
